Camp Mont Shenandoah provides a traditional summer camp experience for girls between the ages of 7 and 16. Nestled in the Allegheny Mountains along the pristine Cowpasture River in Bath County, Camp Mont Shenandoah is one of Virginia’s oldest and best loved overnight camps.

Camp Mont Shenandoah’s mission is to create an excellent summer camp experience for girls. In a safe and caring environment, our camp provides the setting and structure each girl needs to grow — physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually. Through cabin living, fun, challenging activities, relationships with peers and staff, and longstanding traditions, we promote life skills that instill confidence, develop a girl’s sense of self and foster independence. Campers leave Mont Shenandoah having learned the guiding principles of our five virtues: Love, Loyalty, Friendship, Sportsmanship, and Spiritual Awareness.

Camp Mont Shenandoah begins each morning with a flag- raising ceremony and concludes each evening with the playing of taps. In between, campers enjoy a full range of traditional summer camp activities such as:

Archery
Arts and crafts
Cooking
Drama and music
Hiking and overnight camping trips
Horseback riding
Team & individual sports (lacrosse, hockey, soccer, basketball, volleyball, etc.)
Tennis
Watersports (swimming and canoeing)

Every summer, each cabin develops its own personality, memories and shared experiences. For that reason, we take time and careful consideration in placing each of our campers in a cabin. As a rule, campers are placed in a cabin according to age. Campers may request with whom they would like to bunk, and we make every attempt to accommodate these requests. Cabins are inspected daily. Each girl is responsible for keeping her bed, locker and immediate bunk area neat and tidy.
