Episcopal Summer Institute

Welcome to the Episcopal Summer Institute, a series of weeklong academic overnight camps for rising seventh through ninth graders. Located on the historic Episcopal High School campus and taught by its renowned faculty, the Institute’s small class sizes, high-tech classrooms and state-of-the-art facilities offer an immersive experience for students looking to explore topics such as engineering, creative writing, biotechnology, leadership and more.

The Episcopal Summer Institute is jointly run by Episcopal High School and Headfirst Summer Camps. It is unique in that it provides an immersive, academic-based experience along with the fun and friendship-building inherent in an overnight camp.

Because of the partnership between Episcopal High School and Headfirst Summer Camps, the Institute is able to provide best-in-class academic programming, coupled with the operational expertise of one of the best-run and most-awarded summer camps in the region.

Each program is designed and taught by the faculty of Episcopal High School specifically for rising seventh through ninth grade students. Our platform of experiential, hands-on learning currently focuses on three areas creative arts, STEM, and leadership and each topic includes relevant field trips into DC for in-depth exploration.

The residential community and traditional evening camp activities offer participants the chance to forge new friendships as well as enjoy a glimpse into boarding school life. Our small class sizes ensure that each camper will receive individual attention and the opportunity to showcase his or her talents to the fullest.

Our proximity to Washington, DC is integral to how we teach and approach our programs. We take a global worldview and incorporate experiential learning and real-life examples of ethics, leadership and the arts at work in our capital, and weave them throughout all of our programs.

DISCOVERY WEEKEND
For campers who wish to sign up for consecutive weeklong programs, we offer the DC Discovery Weekend option. It allows students to stay on campus between sessions and explore the DC area via field trips to museums, historical sites, sporting events and more, as well as enjoy the facilities on Episcopal’s world-class campus.
