Mount Vernon Community Theatre camps stretch kids’ imaginations, nurture their creative energies, and build skills through dramatic action. Whether they want to be front and center on stage or learn about the behind-the-scenes work on a production, campers get experience putting on a show from start to finish. Participants learn techniques designed to exercise their minds, bodies, voices and imaginations.

Camps for children in (rising) first through third grades

Join us in a galaxy far, far away as we bring the world of Star Wars to life through theatre games, crafts, and the creation of our own Star Wars play! Channel your inner Princess Leia, Darth Vader, Rey or Yoda to bring to life the strong, dynamic characters of this galactic series. Learn how to communicate with others, work as a team, develop story-telling skills, and expand your actor’s toolbox in this fun filled spring break experience. K-8th Grades. All of our camps are led by professional teaching artists experienced in working with kids and teens.

Designed for rising 1st graders through rising 9th graders, MVCCT’s drama camps stretch kids’ imaginations, nurture their creative energies, and build skills through dramatic action. Kids explore different worlds, different time periods, and their own personal strengths through the story-telling they act out on stage.

All our camps are led by professional performers and educators experienced in working with kids and teens. Two-week sessions feature AM drama and PM musical theatre (with discount if you stay all day!); before and after care programs. Sibling discounts available for all sessions.

The Pohick Session is held at Pohick Church, 9301 Richmond Hwy, Lorton VA 22079

Two-Week Sessions
Throughout these two-week sessions, campers will be guided through actor training and theatre games that professional actors regularly use to sharpen their craft and technique, exercising their minds, bodies, voices and imaginations. A portion of each day’s session, am and pm, will be devoted to rehearsing a short performance piece to be performed on the final day of camp. Afternoons will be devoted to rehearsal of a short musical theatre piece. Under the guidance of a professional music director, each student will learn to use their voices safely and effectively.

AM Drama (9:30-12:30) – $350

Session 1 : “Swords and Sorcery”
June 22 – July 3
Come join us for a week of swinging swords and slinging spells! What tales of daring-do will unfold as you create a world full of wizards, wands, duels, dragons, magic and more? Find out at our Swords and Sorcery Camp!

Pohick Session : “Travels Through Time”
July 27 – August 7
Note: This session will be held at Old Pohick Church
AM – Music & PM – Drama
Hop in your TARDIS, Delorean or time machine of your choosing, and explore some of the most exciting moments in human history! Then see what might happen if you were able to nudge things in a different direction.

Session 4 : “Marvelous Mysteries”
August 3 – 14
It’s time for some serious sleuthing! Together, we will use our actor’s tools of body, voice, mind, and imagination to solve mysteries that only truly creative detectives can conquer. We’ll go undercover, invent nifty gadgets and even don some masterful disguises.

Session 2 : All Day Drama : “Games and Gamers”
July 6 – 10
Bring your favorite characters off the board and out of the screen with this one-week camp dedicated to all things gaming. A condensed and more immersive version of our two-week morning drama camp, the one-week summer camp session will introduce students to the world of a professional performer.

Session 3 : All Day Musical Theatre : “Winter Wonderland”
July 20 – 24
Beat the heat and explore all things winter in this two week camp. A condensed and more immersive version of our two-week afternoon musical theatre camp, the one-week summer camp session will introduce students to the world of a professional performer.
